Consumers and ElektroG

As a consumer, you have the following options for safely and responsibly disposing of electrical and electronic equipment:
As in the past, you can use the collection and recycling centres of public waste disposal providers (e.g. communal recycling centres).
Is your old equipment still in good condition or can it be repaired? Maybe donating it to a charity would be a good option for continued use?
You have purchased an electrical or electronic device from SMV that is subject to the regulations of ElektroG. In this case you can return your old device of the same type and which essentially fulfils the same functions as the new device to SMV.
You can return old devices that are no longer than 25cm (regardless of whether you purchased a new device from SMV).
For the latter two options, the following option is available via SMV:
Old devices weighing up to 31 kg and the maximum parcel size of 120 x 60 x 60 cm can be returned free of charge (delivery costs paid by receiver) with DHL (Germany) or GLS (Austria).

Please note the following important information:

Data protection: You are responsible for making sure there is no personal data about you on the old devices you return. Therefore make sure that your personal data has been deleted from your old device before returning it.

Lamps and light fittings: Lamps and light fittings should be carefully packaged before being returned as they can easily break or release harmful substance during transportation. They must be packaged with a decent amount of padding on all sides. Use a stable cardboard box that is big enough.

Batteries/rechargeable batteries in devices: (If possible) remove all batteries and rechargeable batteries from the devices and take them to battery disposal.
