Review by CoMod Martinmm of the Carrera DIGITAL 124 Ford GT40 Mk. II No. 2, 1966
(Art.Nr

The fifth Ford GT40 Mk. II (Carrera
excluding special editions) is modeled after one of the eight GT40 Mk. IIs that started at Le Mans in 1966. However, only three of these cars actually reached the finish line.
Although the black GT40 with start number 2 was the first to cross the finish line, the car behind it, driven by Bruce McLaren, was declared the winner. The nearly simultaneous finish of the two leading Ford GT40s—staged for a photo—meant that the “winning driver,” Ken Miles, ended up in second place. The distance covered was the deciding factor, and for Bruce McLaren—who started further back—this distance was longer relative to his elapsed time than that of Ken Miles.
The glossy black paint finish on this test vehicle is absolutely flawless. Even the rear end—which often had flaws in previous models—is flawlessly crafted and neatly fitted.
Technically, everything about this vehicle is in order as well. The headlight is significantly brighter compared to the first two models. It would be desirable if theCarrera
improved light guide were offered as a replacement part for retrofitting older models. Thanks to their softer compound, the tires provide good traction even when operated without magnets or with reduced magnet strength. In a direct comparison, they are on par with previous tuning tires. By carefully sanding the rear wheels with a sanding block to ensure the tire makes full contact with the track, the grip can be significantly increased even further.
For me, running the vehicle with only the two outer of the three center magnets (rear magnet removed) has proven to be a very good compromise. Another variation on this classic wouldCarrera
be a great addition to the

Enjoy!
