Writing

club reports on Formula 1 cars isn't easy. The report ultimately boils down to a list of bombastic engine and performance specs. The research is usually boring—uh, I mean, not very exciting, of course. ;-)

This time, however, I came across a report from AUTO MOTOR SPORT from the beginning that I’m simply posting in full, paragraph by paragraph, because it’s just too good. So here’s an original quote:
“Even before the unveiling of the Ferrari F14 T, there was a lot of talk about the new car. The Italians let the fans vote on the new name. More than a million votes were cast on the team’s website.” In the end, the F14T narrowly beat out the F166 Turbo. However, the new name evokes some amusing associations. Some are reminded of the nearly identically named U.S. fighter jet. Others see similarities between the F14T logo and that of the parent company, FIAT.”
End of quote!

How could anyone possibly top an introduction like that? You just can’t do better than that. There isn’t actually much to say about the car itself. The F14T is the Maranello team’s F1 car for the 2014 season. Due to changes in the F1 regulations, the car is a completely new design. The Ferrari weighs just under 700 kilograms and has a 1.6-liter V6 with around 600 horsepower (at 15,000 rpm).
Impressive specs, plus two of the world’s best drivers in Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen. Still, it didn’t amount to much; the best finish in a race was a third-place finish by Alonso at the Chinese Grand Prix. In the overall standings, the team only managed to finish fourth in the Constructors' Championship.

This model, however, makes a much better impression. The aesthetics are spot-on; the model replicates the characteristic basic shape of the Ferrari F14T very well, and the technology is also familiar. The low weight, combined with the high-revving motor, results in impressive acceleration and a top speed that is difficult to reach on standard home tracks. For this reason, it makes sense to reduce the maximum speed slightly.
This allows the F14TW105to keep pace with its direct CARRERA competitor, the MercedesW105, without any problemsW105.

Exciting races are therefore guaranteed on your home track. Have fun!
