legend lives on …A
test report by CoMod JoergWAs

the successor to the well-known Carrera Corvette C6R—which has been part of the lineup for quite some time—the Corvette C7R was introduced in 2017. A 5.5-liter V8 engine with direct injection is set to shake up the GTE/GTLM class… but will it really succeed?

The model’s appearance is faithfully reproduced. The design-related clearance in the wheel wells is minimal and does not detract from the overall appearance. The greenish light from the front slit-eye headlights is rather dim; it’s certainly only of limited use for night races. Thanks to the new flat LEDs, which lack side shields, light shines a bit more clearly from the wheel wells onto the track. The chassis has ample space on both sides for trim weights. The interior is tidy, and the wires are neatly routed.

I find the weight distribution between the chassis (72 g) and the body (30 g) to be very good, though the total weight could still be a few grams lower. The decals and paint job are flawless… just as you’d Carrera expect . The front axle turns easily and freely.

The tires have sufficient grip, but due to their thin profile, there’s very little leeway for sanding. However, rounding off the edges should still be possible without any problems.

The vehicle takes to the road with ease and, thanks to its magnetic suspension, offers a comfortable and brisk ride—its relatively long wheelbase certainly plays a role here.
Its performance is on par with that of other GT vehicles. This yellow racer will slot right into the pack without any trouble—whether it can compete at the front… that will depend not least on the person behind the wheel.

Best regards,
Jörg
