Martini Meets
Mercedes: Race cars in the classic white/silver-blue-red Martini design have been tearing up
racetracks around the world—and
—since the 1970s . Whether in Formula 1, rally racing, the various GT classes, at
Le Mans, or even in motorcycle racing, Martini has been
an indispensable part of the racing scene as a sponsor for decades.
So I’m all the more pleased that another 1:24 scale model from a current series
in the Martini look has made itonto the racetrack.
Appearance:
The white Mercedes with the Martini look is, of course, very easy to spot on the track
and really makes a statement … the white paint job with the colorful decals highlights
the Mercedes’ beefy and aggressive shape … the model is executed flawlessly. Personally
, Iespecially like the rims and the brakes here.
A few sculpted or subtly hinted-at details in the vehicle’s interior round out the overall impression.
Technology:
Basically all familiar components. The headlight is white, bright enough, and suitable for night races. The taillights are bright, and the brake light is clearly visible. The tires have grip but are quite thin, as per the real-world model, so drifting should be done with caution.
Workmanship:
The paint job and clear coat are neatly applied. All
other components, such as decals and technical parts, are free of defects and neatly assembled.
The wheels and axles turn easily and run smoothly—no problems.
Handling:
The vehicle is quite a heavyweight and must
be driven accordingly.I find the handling, both with and without the magnet, to be well-balanced
and pleasant.
