Cars

Carrera Disney Carrerahas held the licenses for the CARS movies Carrera for a few years now. In addition to the well-known basic sets in small GO!!! scale, the cars are also available in the larger 1:13.2 scale.
The first two were released a few years ago: naturally, the ever-popular hero Lightning McQueen; his rival on the racetrack at the time was the Italian Francesco Bernoulli, styled after a Formula 1 car, and the German Max Schnell, modeled after a DTM racer. At the beginning of the year, the neon version of the likable race car hit the market—this car is also from the second feature film.

With PIXAR Studios releasing the third feature film about the impetuous NASCAR race car in theaters this year, CARRERA has once again decided to launch two 132-scale models. This time, the cars are (no surprise there) our title hero Lightning McQueen, and secondly, the yellow NASCAR racer belonging to the young technician Cruz Ramirez, who is supposed to train our aging hero and teach him the latest tricks from the racing circuit, since he’s slowly finding it harder and harder to keep up with the young, impetuous up-and-coming drivers. After all
, he still hasn’t won the Piston Cup.
For the first time, we have two 1:32-scale cars here that can race directly against each other. Both have the same chassis, the same suspension dimensions, and even similar body styles, so their handling characteristics are roughly comparable. While these cars don’t fit the typical racing car mold, they can certainly hold their own against vehicles from other racing series. Wide tires, a relatively short wheelbase, and a very wide chassis design ensure decent performance. But what’s even more important to the target audience: thanks to the body’s construction—which uses fewer components—these cars are practically indestructible in the hands of children! And now my son can finally keep up with Dad’s beloved DTMs…
