The Fast Prince
Carrera Digital 124 BMW M1 Procar "Norisring 1981"

Art.Nr. 23871"

This model is now the tenth design variant of the Digital 124 BMW M1. Although the real-life car did not achieve any notable racing successes, it did have an extremely prominent driver: Prince Leopold of Bavaria. And it has a connection to the Norisring Carrera, as it appears several times in the 1981/82 catalog in photos of real racing scenes, mostly alongside the Ford Capri Zakspeed “Nigrin.” In that sense, the circle is almost complete nearly 40 years later, as both models Digital 124 can now be run on the track.
In terms of driving performance, the model fits seamlessly among the previously released BMW M1s, which are the fastest large-scale vehicles on my—rather small—test track. Weighing just under 200 grams, the M1 is one of the lightest D124 cars, which is clearly noticeable in its performance and handling. Whether with or without magnetic clamps, the car always handles very nimbly and remains very forgiving at the limit.
