A piece of history appears with the EVOLUTION BMW 320 Turbo Flachbau "Team Schnitzer, No.55" DRM 1980. Driver Hans Joachim Stuck had turned his back on Formula 1 in 1980 and focused on the German Racing Championships in the BMW 320 Turbo in its flat version. With the 1.4 turbo engines and almost 450 hp, the new vehicles dominated over the naturally aspirated engines. The most famous of the races was the small division race at the Norisring in 1980, in which Hans Heyer's Lancia Beta Montecarlo broke its brake discs on lap 6 and was left in ruins after a multiple rollover. Stuck, on the other hand, finished second in this BMW at the end of the year.
