Racing sports car with road license
The Porsche 904, officially marketed as the Carrera GTS, was produced from 1963 to 1965. The racing sports car was approved in accordance with the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) and could therefore also be driven on normal public roads.
Between 1964 and 1966, this unique coupé raced in the works team in the World Sports Car Championship. In 1965, the car was then seen as a specially built 904 Bergspyder in the European Hillclimb Championship. The 904 was also very popular with many private teams and was also used here in the two international racing series and in national championships such as the German Automobile Circuit Championship in the 2-liter GT class. The Carrera GTS won the 2-liter GT class in the one-make world championship in 1964 and 1965 and also the prototype class in 1964.
