Nearly seven months have passed since the toy fair in February, and the three color variants of the Aston Martin DBR9 are about to be shipped.

There shouldn’t really be much new to report, since this is “just” another color variant. But that’s not quite the case. With the 009 race number in Aston Martin Racing Green and a white roof, another beautiful racing version has been chosen. But let’s be honest, any other version of this supercar would have been fine with us, too. Visually, the car looks fantastic again! All the decals are flawless and, as usual, executed with great attention to detail. The printed rear right air vent cover has been revised in shape and position and now looks much more harmonious.

But there’s something else: the Green model looks much deeper than its two predecessors!

When looking at the chassis, you notice quite a few new features. The edge of the engine grille and the rear magnet have disappeared, so the chassis is now nice and flat in the rear section as well. The center magnet has also been given a new mount and is now enclosed—the magnets are no longer visible! Personally, I find this more visually appealing.

Viewed from the inside, the chassis looks as tidy as usual, but there are also some new features to discover here. First, of course, the redesigned swing arm with a greater angle of rotation for the guide keel. Second, the front mount for the light board. Unlike on the predecessors, this is no longer permanently glued in place but is now a plug-in design, which makes maintenance work on the front axle much easier. It’s now clear why the DBR9 looks lower: it has been fitted with two spacers on the front axle and the engine mount. If you remove the front circuit board holder as well, the DBR9 can be lowered even further, giving it an even sharper look.

In terms of handling, the revised swing arm now allows for much higher cornering speeds, which clearly leads to more driving fun. Understeer is practically a thing of the past. Personally, I also find this version of the DBR9 to be another great addition to the GT series, and I’d love to see more of this car, especially after the fantastic chassis overhaul.

Test report from CoMod Carrera124 on the Carrera Carrera DIGITAL 124 Aston Martin DBR9 Aston Martin Racing "No. 009" , 2007

More than just a color variant!

When the DBR9 was announced on a large scale last year, there was great excitement. But there was also surprise when it became clear that the dark green variant wasn’t initially planned. That gap has now been filled,

and the British model in its classic design will soon be rolling into stores.

And actually, it’s not just a color variant, because technical details have also been modified. The large magnet holder is now completely closed at the bottom, though the magnets can still be easily unscrewed from below. Nevertheless, this is likely a first small preview of the improved chassis generation in this year’s new models.

And the wheels now sit more firmly in the wheel wells; to achieve this, a few more spacer plates were simply added between the chassis and the axle holders.A small change with a big impact—it noticeably enhances the overall look of the car.

For driving, I remove the coil spring from the front axle—as I do with nearly every 1/24-scale car—which improves the appearance even further. The handling itself can best be described as “good-natured”—it has a long wheelbase, which is nothing new.
