No.: 20030771 After
a long time, here’s a thoroughbred GT once again from the legendary manufacturer Ford, 50 years after the legendary Ford GT40, Ford is back in the game and immediately claimed the class victory in the GTE Pro category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
While the “street-legal” version, produced from 2016 to 2020 at a rate of 250 units per year, is equipped with a 3.5-liter engine and delivers approximately 480 kW (approx. 650 PS) at a price of approximately 500,000 euros to buyers or successful applicants, the racing version is fielded by Chip Ganassi Racing UK in the FIA GT Endurance Championship.

This version really captures the prototype well in terms of overall appearance, printing, and decals. The only thing that will catch the eye of a critical observer is the 24 Hours of Le Mans starting number, which is only hinted at—presumably due to licensing costs, as we’ve seen before. I’m perfectly fine with that.
The chassis is clean, the axles turn freely, and they have the necessary lateral play. The vehicle is equipped with the D132 standard lighting—headlights and taillights/brake lights.
The rear diffuser, which appears very prominent in original photos, is integrated into the chassis in the model and slightly toned down; however, visually, it fits the overall vehicle better than it does in the photos of the original. It has no function in the model other than as a bumper.
The relatively narrow and long GT still offers space in the chassis for trim weights, which should further improve its handling without magnets. As for the length, we can confirm that this model—much like the 1:32 Maserati MC12—is quite long… even though I personally prefer a more compact and wide design ;-)
All in all, the Ford GT is a great addition to the GT lineup, and I’m looking forward to the upcoming 1:24 version.
