The vehicle:
Carrera has a luxury problem: the BMW M1 in two scales. How do you sensibly distribute the approximately 100 possible original designs between 1:32 and 1:24? Compared to that, squaring the circle seems almost trivial.
In addition to the model's attractive shape, the "Boss" design is a real feast for the eyes. Many people—myself included—will want this look for a larger scale version as well.

The model (chassis):
Only familiar and proven technology is used here. Fortunately, the front axle is continuous, and the lighting also operates with minimal stray light.

The model (body):
In the 1:32 scale, some compromises always have to be made, but the model, like its big brother, is still impressive from every perspective. Whether the rear louvers are as prone to breakage as the old Universal 132 model remains to be seen.

Driving test:
There's nothing to say about the handling with the full magnet load; without the limit, it zips around the track at top speed. However, the little M1 becomes a true racer when you remove the rear magnet. It's still fast, but always neutral and well-controlled through the corners. The limit is wide and announces itself well in advance. The rather loud and droning driving noise is a negative, however.
