Porsche 935 from the 1970s and 1980s is a legend. To mark Porsche’s 70th anniversary, a new version was created as a tribute to this racing classic, based technically on the then-current Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The bodywork incorporates design elements from the Porsche 935/78 “Moby Dick,” and since there were no regulations to comply with, the designers had relatively free rein. A total of 77 units were produced, intended for use as so-called “Clubsport Racers.”

Carrera didn’t want to miss this opportunity and is presenting the model as a 1:32-scale slot car. At 109 grams, it weighs slightly more than most other GT3 or GTE cars, and the same applies to its dimensions. Nevertheless, the model performs very well in races alongside and against the other GT cars. Visually, it leaves almost nothing to be desired—aside from the tiresome and all-too-familiar issue of “tire manufacturer logos.” Overall, the body offers a good visual balance between sufficient detail and necessary stability; the only thing to watch out for is the delicately attached rear spoiler. All in all, it’s a well-executed model, and two additional design variations have already been announced for this year.
