Carrera Digital 124 Porsche 917K "Daytona 1970"

Art.Nr. 23973

" It took four years for CARRERA to add another PORSCHE 917K to its current lineup.
The last one was part of the lineup in 2019—at that time, it was the plain white racer from the Porsche Team Salzburg.
The first PORSCHE 917K was produced by CARRERA in 2012; at that time, the red-and-white car from Team Salzburg and the No. 2 GULF car from the J.WYERGULFJ.WYER team were J.WYER released. The GULF car at that time bore the No. 2, which was the winner of the 1970 Daytona 24 Hours. The British JOHN-WYER-AUTOMOTIVE team had two cars on the grid that year, both of which dominated the race from the start. Car No. 2 won that race, while Car No. 1 finished second.

To mark the 10th anniversary, CARRERA is now releasing the No. 1 car from the 1970 race. The drivers back then were the Swiss JOE SIFFERT and the British BRIAN REDMAN.
Go Thanks to tt, the new GULF isn’t Go just a carbon copy of No. 2 with a different starting number; the car’s paint scheme—with its wide orange front end—sets it apart significantly from No. 2.

Even though the design of the Porsche model is already 10 years old, it can still keep up with today’s cars in terms of handling—especially, of course, with its main rival on the track, the technically more advanced LOLA T70. This speaks to the rock-solid, high-quality construction underlying the car.
The total weight is 202 g (of which 45 g is the body, 154 g is the chassis with mechanical components, and 3 g is screws) .

The upper headlight is illuminated; the rear is not.
The decals are neatly applied, and the clear-coated body looks high-quality rather than like a toy car.

Like the real-life model, the tires have a shallow tread pattern, but they still provide sufficient grip. The "CARRERA" lettering on the tires is due to licensing issues and is well known.
The wide axle, combined with the wide tires and the low-slung silhouette, ensures fast and safe driving, especially through corners. The transmission runs smoothly, without rattling, and the entire car responds well.

Tuning enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy; the PORSCHE leaves ample room for experimenting with adding lead weights to the side panels and removing the magnets.
