The desire for DTM vehicles in 1:24 scale has existed for almost as long as the desire for the BMW M1 and other classics. This year, it was fulfilled, and for the first time since 2014, the mold novelty arrived in good time before the turn of the year. In addition to the models based on the cars of Gary Paffett (#2) and Paul die Resta (#3), there is also a model that replicates the car of Maximilian Götz (#84) from the 2016 season.

The model (chassis):
Basically there is nothing new here, the chassis is built in the same way as all other large-scale vehicles of recent years. The front spoiler and rear diffuser are integrated into the chassis, but not the side skirts (as is familiar from the DTM vehicles in 1:32 scale).

The model (body):
Neither the proportions nor the details leave anything to be desired, and certainly not the printing. The driver's helmet and upper body are also finely designed, otherwise the driver's insert is mainly a black plate with a silver roll bar, so perhaps a few more details could have been added. But this is criticism at a high level overall.

Fahrtest:
The driving test was carried out completely without magnets. Despite the high weight, the model drives quite nimbly and light-footed, no comparison to the cumbersome Ford GT Racecar. Due to the enormous width of the vehicle, however, it does become very cramped on the conceptually 40-year-old Carreratrack.
The tires offer sufficient grip as long as they are clean, but they tend to pick up dust and other dirt quickly. Nevertheless, the car is great fun to drive and is easy to control around the track.

A never-ending story...

Infinite? Well, not quite. But I can't actually remember a vehicle in recent years that has taken so long to actually come onto the market. Announced for early 2017, it has now taken almost a year for the tow truck to actually come onto the market. As Slottus once wrote in the corresponding thread about the car: "The whole project is once again a prime example of Murphy's Law". Technical problems with the LGA etc. delayed the project for quite a long time.

But the result makes up for everything:
I know it sounds strange, but the little truck makes a "sympathetic" impression. If you look at the cab of the tow truck, the "face" immediately looks familiar. Somehow the car reminds you of a mixture of Mercedes 319 and classic American cab-over wreckers from the 1950s. Given the designer's well-known fondness for American vehicles, this was probably the idea behind the project. The paintwork is classic CARRERA red, the rear section is completely chrome-plated except for the red crane boom. There is even a Jerrycan on the loading area (German canister, not American!). Of course, all options are open for further designs. The rims are from the '67 Mustang, with dual tires on both rear axles. The glazing of the driver's cab is smoked black due to the electronics installed inside. There are yellow flashing lights on the roof, as befits a tow truck. And it makes noises too: the sound of the vehicle can be played by pressing the soft button on the hand controller both when stationary and when driving.
For towing operation: There is a bracket at the rear of the flatbed that holds the guide keel for the front wheels of the towed car when it is folded down. All without springs or servos. When unfolded, you can of course also drive without the towed car. For Formula 1 cars with a long nose, a second bracket is also included, which is clipped onto the existing bracket, see the operating instructions in the box.
The real surprise of the truck, however, is what none of us CoMods actually expected. The truck is really fast. It drifts well and is faster than some racing cars when it comes to pulling away and speed (and if you're thinking of the old racing trucks from Fly and their handling: you don't compare racing boats with battle cruisers either).
A small detail: the truck fits into a regular box. Just barely, but it fits in. The box comes with a cardboard slipcase, as we already know it from the Ferrari, only in gray.
So, enough writing. Buy the car and try it out on your own track. You won't regret it!

Actually, everything has already been written about this. This model has been a permanent fixture in the Carrera range since the end of the 1970s. Whether 132 Universal, 160 track-bound or one of the three servo systems: the Ford Capri Zakspeed Turbo was always there, but at that time mainly in the stylized Mampe design and also as a red fantasy version with the Servo 140 and Servo 160.
The competitors have also launched the model in various versions since 2002 and 2012. However, these are not always easy to digitize, so in my opinion this novelty from Carrera makes perfect sense. The popularity of this Group 5 icon is unbroken, with the "Würth" variant being launched first.

The model (chassis):
All the familiar elements were used in the design of the chassis. The E200 engine sits as usual as an inliner in front of the rear axle. Unfortunately, the front axle could not be designed as a full-length unit, but is realized as an independent suspension. The lighting is provided by SMD LEDs.

The model (body):
I was initially unsure about this. The front edge of the front spoiler is dead straight, and the front wheels sit relatively far forward in the wheel arches. In these two points, the Carreramodel clearly differs from the slot models of the other two manufacturers. However, when comparing the model photos, you can see that the front wheels really are positioned so far forward, and that the front spoiler actually runs as straight as a snow shovel, so our designer did everything right.

Fahrtest:
There is not much to say about the driving behavior with full magnet equipment, the model circles the course as if stapled to the ideal line. If you remove the rear magnet, on the other hand, the Capri quickly mutates into a rear-end skid, something I have rarely observed with other vehicles with this magnet configuration. Maybe it's the tires, but I'll definitely wait until the second design variant is released for a final verdict.
Apart from this rear-heaviness, the ride is smooth and only moderately noisy.

Under the sign of the rings ...

are once again 2 novelties from the D1:32 program. The two new Audi R8 LMS models in green and blue are visually impressive and are clearly visible/distinguishable on the track.
The "blue Audi" features large FELBERMAYER lettering on the side .... Tells us something ... yes, the expensive, light blue Porsche 911 from the first 124 Porsche 911 series, but who or what is Felbermayer and what does the imprint/model designation "Car Collection" refer to .... Only for Carrera-hardcore collectors?

The Austrians Horst senior and Horst junior Felbermayer are active in international racing both as sponsors (Felbermayer Holding international construction/transport company) and as active drivers or were active in racing.

The car dealer Peter Schmidt initially had the company "Schmidt Automobile", which was later restructured as "CC Car Collection Autohandels GmbH". This resulted in the racing commitment in the VLN Endurance Championship, BlacPain Endurances and International 24h Series racing series.
"CarCollection" competes in races itself, but also offers support and service for customer teams ... a Felbermayer GT3 Audi R8 LMS can be purchased here for just under 375,000 euros.

Yaco-Racing has now been in existence for 16 years and has entered cars in more than 400 races. uwe Geipel, former GDR rally champion and Wartburg works driver, founded the YACO family racing team in 2001. Successful members of the YACO-Racing team include his sons Philip and Charlie and, in recent years, well-known names such as Markus Winkelhock and Christian Mamerow.
Philip Geipel and former DTM driver Rahel Frey drive the current Audi R8 in the GT3 series.

The vehicle models have perfect printing and fit. The somewhat high weight is noticeable in the driving performance, but the vehicles are easy and safe to drive.
There is relatively little space in the chassis for trim weights. The axles turn easily, but a drop of oil can still do no harm.
All in all, another 2 visually appealing and competitive vehicles for the 1:32 GT series.

I think it's well known that I'm a fan of the VW Beetle Group 5, and I still stand by that. The vehicles have a funny look and are incredibly good on the track thanks to their wide tires, wide track and short wheelbase. However, with the current item number 30821, I am reaching the limits of my taste with this type of vehicle: The Ladybugracer.
A ladybug on wheels. What should I write about the car now? Yes, I know, Slottus is always looking to tap into new target groups. So why not women, who are severely underrepresented in our beloved hobby anyway. But I'm probably too sober for attributes like "oh, it's cute". The only thing I can find to be positive is the bodywork implementation with the almost transparent rear section, which I think is a really great solution
So I'll save myself any further comments and simply state that this version of a racing ladybug could appeal to new target groups.
GoThankfully, this year there is also the car with item number 30820: a Beetle in a classic racing livery that is clearly based on the old Lotus from the seventies. Black, gold letters and numbers. Unfortunately, nowadays you have to pay license fees for everything and everyone, and cigarette advertising on toys is not allowed, so Carrera opted for the letter combination BUG instead of the classic cigarette brand: BEETLE UNION GERMANY. And the car is really well made. The CARRERA lettering on the rear spoiler and the red front flap harmonize perfectly with the rest of the body, the car gives an absolutely coherent overall picture.
The good driving characteristics of the Beetle are well known, I don't think I need to say anything more about that.
One more thing: While I was writing this report, my two boys (aged 6 and 8) stormed into the room. When asked for their opinion on which of the two they liked better, the verdict was clear: The LADYBUGRACER! I'm going to cry now...

An American legend...

The Chevrolet Bel Air '57 is one of the vehicles that has been in the CARRERA range for 10 years. CoMod colleague Jörg wrote the following about the first Bei Airs 10 years ago: "I can't judge whether these vehicles appeal to a sufficient group of buyers in Europe, but they will certainly have their fans in the USA and thus corresponding sales". That proved to be true: Although the car has been out of the German and European range for years, the Chevy enjoys unbroken popularity in the USA. CARRERA has been launching another racing version of the 2-door sedan on the market at regular intervals for years. The "civilian version" of the Bel Air was only available in 2008 (in red) and 2009 (in sky blue, only for the USA), all other versions were or are racing cars. Original racing Chevys from the time now fetch quite respectable prices at auctions in the USA Preise.Der The latest Chevy with item number 30795 is a racing version in the colors turquoise and white with the starting number 90. According to information from our designer Günter "Slottus" Leifer, the car is based on a real-life model. About the handling: The car impresses with its sheer size; there are 124s that are only slightly larger. The car's dimensions are also noticeable in its weight: the Bel Air weighs 119 grams. This is also noticeable when driving: The car sits firmly and surprisingly well on the road, there is no tendency to tip over in the bends due to the weight and the higher center of gravity. The Chevy's size and weight bring it close to the handling of the 1:24 models. Carrera has had the licenses for the CARS films for a few years now. In addition to the well-known basic packs in the small GO!!!scale, the cars are also available for the large 132nd scale
The first two came out a few years ago, of course the ever-popular hero Lightning McQueen, his opponent on the race track was the Italian Francesco Bernoulli in the Formula 1 look and the German Max Schnell, who was based on a DTM racer. At the beginning of the year, the neon version of the likeable racing car was launched on the market, also from the second feature film.

Now that the PIXAR film studios are bringing the third feature film about the impetuous NASCAR racing car to cinemas this year, CARRERA has once again decided to bring two 132s onto the market. This time, the vehicles are (no surprise) our title hero Lightning McQueen, plus the yellow NASCAR racer driven by the young technician Cruz Ramirez, who is supposed to train our ageing hero and teach him the latest tricks from the racing circus, as he is finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with the young, impetuous up-and-coming drivers. He still hasn't won the Piston Cup.
For the first time, we have two cars here in 132 that can race directly against each other. Both have the same chassis, the same chassis dimensions and also similar bodies, so that the driving values are roughly comparable. Although the cars do not fit into the standard racing car scheme, they can certainly keep up with other vehicles from other racing series. Wide tires, the relatively short wheelbase and a very wide chassis structure ensure acceptable driving performance. What is even more important for the intended target group, however, is that the vehicles are almost indestructible in children's hands thanks to the construction of the bodywork using fewer add-on parts! And son can finally keep up with dad's beloved DTMs...

Producing a GT a day, that's Ford's goal! Only 1000 units will be built, but the car will not be manufactured directly at FORD, but at the new assembly plant of MULTIMATIC in Markham, Ontario. After a long time, a thoroughbred GT from traditional manufacturer Ford, 50 years after the legendary Ford GT40, Ford wants to get back into the game and takes class victory in the GTE Pro classification at the 24-hour LeMans race.
While the "civilian" version will be sold to buyers or successful applicants in the period from 2016-2020 with 250 units per year with a 3.5-liter engine and approx. 480 Kw (approx. 650 hp) for a price of approx. 500,000 euros, the racing version will be used by the Chip Ganassi Racing UK team in the FIA GT Endurance Championship.

This 1:32 scale model from Carrera shows the variant that is used in the FIA GT Series, it can be ordered from the Carreradealer without a 24-page application process or taken directly on site.
This version appears to be really true to the original in terms of the overall look, the printing and the decals. Only the 24h LeMans starting number, which has only been hinted at, presumably for reasons of license costs - we've been over this before - will be noticed by the critical observer. I can live with that.
The chassis is tidy, the axles turn freely and have the necessary lateral tolerance. The vehicle is equipped with the D132 standard lighting - front and rear/brake lights.
The very protruding rear diffuser in the original photos is integrated into the chassis in the model and slightly weakened, but fits the overall vehicle visually better than it comes across in the photos of the original. It has no function in the model, except as impact protection.
The relatively narrow and long GT still offers space for trim weights in the chassis, which should further improve its handling without magnets. Length, can be confirmed with this model - similar to the 1:32 Maserati MC12 ... even if I personally prefer compact and wide ;-)

All in all, the Ford GT is a great addition to the GT vehicle pool and I'm looking forward to the upcoming 1:24 version.

The latest speedster from the racing car factory in Sant' Agata Bolognese was presented in Geneva in March 2016. The car pays tribute to the aviation industry, from which Lamborghini drew a lot of inspiration for its designs.
The vehicle is being produced in a small series of 250 units and is available in only 5 special colors: "Grigio Falco", "Blu Grifo", "Grigio Nibbio", "Grigio Vulcano" and "Verde Turbine", the names were taken from the course emblems of the Italian Air Force Academy. The color variant released by CARRERA is called "Grigio Falco", the racing stripes and other accents are set off in "Arancio Borealis" (Lamborghini Orange). This version was presented in 2016 at the Lyon Air Museum in Costa Mesa, California (for the museum, see their homepage: www.lyonairmuseum.org ). The identification L63 on the doors stands for LAMBORGHINI and its founding year 1963, when the tractor manufacturer Ferruccio Lamborghini allegedly decided to build his own sports cars out of anger at Enzo Ferrari.
The Carrera-Lambo differs from the original from the California pictures in clear lacquer by the matt lacquer finish, but there are also photos on the net that show the car in matt lacquer. The outstanding driving performance of the slot car is well known, please refer to the previous test reports.

One of this year's novelties in the 132 sector is the well-known blue and yellow Porsche 917K of the GESIPA Racing Team. For the history of the vehicle and the team, I simply refer you to my report on the 124 vehicle from 2013 (I could simply copy the report again, but that would be too easy...).

If you compare the big one with the small one, you will of course notice the better attention to detail of the 124. However, as the original car Gothankfully doesn't necessarily stand out due to its jagged bodywork, the "little brother" doesn't look like a rough block on the tracks either. The vehicles in both scales impress with their great attention to detail, which is repeatedly praised in model making and even car magazines (currently z.B. in OLDTIMER MARKT).
Where the large and small cars differ, however, is in their engine and driving characteristics.
The 124 - like every car from the large scale - drives much more harmoniously overall, but also much more demanding. A 124 requires different handling, more practice and also more control of the vehicle. This is also one of the main reasons why this scale has retained such a loyal fan base over the decades. Size, length, wheelbase, engine and weight do make a difference when they are "voluminously" dimensioned.
The small 917s, on the other hand, are very lively vehicles. Personally, they are almost too lively for me, they literally take off "like Schmidt's cat".
The well-known flat engine is installed for space reasons, which of course has a completely different response behavior than the large block engine from the 124. Thanks to the strong magnet and the much lower weight, the Porsche literally sticks to the track and is therefore almost impossible to throw off course. It is therefore easier to drive (and therefore also much more home track-friendly) than the much heavier "big" Porsche.

Conclusion: they are both a lot of fun, but despite the visual similarity, we have two completely different vehicles here.

The 9 Hours of Kyalami
was the central race of the South African Springbok Trophy Series from 1965 to 1974.
On November 6, 1965, David Piper and Richard Attwood covered the winning distance of 1240.729 km in their Ferrari 365 P2. If you convert that to 1:32 scale, you get just under 39 km .... converted to a normal basic pack track of approx. 8 m, that's 4875 laps ... quite a challenge for slot cars and slotters.
This Ferrari 365 P2 is the further developed customer version of the successful 275/330 P2-Ferraris. This was followed by the Ferrari 330 P3/P4, which we know from Carrera in 1:24 scale.
I think the realization of the model is basically appropriate. I took my wife's uncalibrated tape measure and measured the vehicle's length, width and wheelbase and compared them with the original data I had. Even though the model is slightly larger than the original in all dimensions, the ratio between length and width in particular is pretty accurate.
The wheel rims are prototypical, but could have used a slightly deeper stamping.
The driver figure and other add-on parts are prototypical and perfectly executed.
I'm torn about the shade of green. Basically, the green fits perfectly into the 60s, but if you see photos - unfortunately they don't always really show the true colors - or have seen a vehicle from the David Piper collection .... he has some delicacies like Porsche 9170, Lolo T70 and Ferrari 250 LM ... live, then the color seems different to me.
The low weight of 83 grams is very noticeable when driving. It's great fun to drive the little racer around the track. The front wheels have independent suspension, they turn freely and easily. The tires have good grip, all in all a fun car that can be driven historically correctly against the Shelby Cobra and the Porsche 904 GTS.

If you tell a car fan about a Ferrari 365, they usually have a specific car in mind: the legendary 365 GTB/4 "Daytona" or the 365 GTS/4 (the convertible from Miami Vice).
The 365 P2 sports prototype, on the other hand, is relatively unknown. The car was a further development of the 250 LM, the last Ferrari to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Equipped with a 4.4-liter engine, it produced around 380 hp from this 12-cylinder engine. The car was launched in 1965 as a customer vehicle. Ferrari did not run its own works team at the time, but anyone who could afford it could buy a car for racing One of these well-heeled customers was Luigi Chinetti, an Italian-born American FERRARI dealer and racing driver who founded the North American Racing Team in 1957. One of the team's aims was to promote the FERRARI brand and the sale of its vehicles in the USA through racing successes. The team's greatest success was the aforementioned LeMans win in a 250 LM, driven by Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory.

The CARRERA model is visually very well realized, there is nothing to complain about in terms of the faithfulness of the printing and paintwork. Since there are also a few original color pictures of the car, comparisons are very easy. The little red speedster doesn't weigh much, which makes it very easy to pull away and it can be driven quickly around the bends. In direct comparison with the Porsche 904, it cuts a fine figure; in my opinion, the Shelby Cobra is a little less stable on the track.
All in all, a very nice vehicle that enriches the 60s starting field.
