FAQ
Waste electrical and electronic equipment recycling
The European WEEE Directive (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) was implemented by the Act on the Placing on the Market, Return and Environmentally Sound Disposal of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act - ElektroG).
§ 3 defines electrical and electronic equipment as "equipment designed for use with a voltage rating not exceeding 1000 volts a.c. or 1500 volts d.c. and
- Are dependent on electric currents or electromagnetic fields for their proper operation, or
- are used for the generation, transmission and measurement of electric currents and electromagnetic fields".
Due to the fact that the production and use of electrical and electronic equipment has been increasing rapidly for years and, of course, the waste problem is growing to the same extent, proposals to solve the problem were drawn up at European level as early as 2000 and incorporated into the EU Directive on electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE Directive) at the end of 2002.
The WEEE Directive and the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) thus serve the following objectives:
- To protect health and the environment from harmful substances from electrical and electronic equipment
- To reduce the amount of waste through reuse or recovery (recycling)
In addition, the responsibilities for manufacturers, dealers and consumers are clearly regulated.
The Carrera is registered with the "Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte Register" (EAR) with the reg. no. 25078058 (Germany) or 50725 (Austria). The EAR Foundation is the joint body of manufacturers within the meaning of the ElektroG and has been entrusted by the Federal Environment Agency with the performance of sovereign tasks. In this context, it registers the producers of electrical and electronic equipment and coordinates the provision of collection containers and the collection of waste equipment from the public waste management authorities (örE).
Appliances with this marking may not be disposed of with residual waste, but must be returned to the responsible manufacturer or importer for recycling via the collection points of the local authorities.

Consumers and ElektroG
As a consumer, you have the following options for disposing of an electrical or electronic appliance safely and responsibly:
As in the past, you can use the collection and recycling points of the public waste disposal authorities (e.g. municipal recycling centers).
Your old appliance is still in good condition or can be repaired. Perhaps a donation to a charitable organization would be a good way to reuse it?
You have purchased an electrical or electronic device from Carrera that falls under the regulations of the ElektroG; in this case, you can return your old device of the same type and which essentially fulfills the same functions as the new device to Carrera.
You can return old appliances that are no longer than 25 cm in any dimension (regardless of whether you have purchased a new appliance from Carrera).
For the latter two options, Carrera offers you the following option:
Old devices weighing up to 31 kg and with maximum package dimensions of 120 x 60 x 60 cm can be returned freight collect (postage paid by recipient) with DHL (Germany) or GLS (Austria).
Please send your old appliance to the following address:

Please note the following important information:
Data protection: You are always responsible for ensuring that no personal data is stored on the old appliances you return. Therefore, make sure that you have deleted your personal data from your old appliance before returning it.
Lamps and lighting fixtures: Lamps and lighting fixtures should be packed with particular care before being returned, as they can easily break during transportation and release harmful substances. They should be packed well padded on all sides. Use a sufficiently large and sturdy cardboard box.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries in appliances: Remove all batteries and rechargeable batteries from the appliances (if possible) and dispose of them at the battery disposal facility.
