First, lap counting is integrated into the pit lane. Especially during longer races, it’s easy to lose track of the laps you’ve completed. Thanks to the automatic lap counter, you can focus entirely on your lap times. The lap counter can also be turned off if desired. Refueling the Cars

On the other hand, the pit lane also serves to have the race led by a pace car. Just like in real races, you can bring the pace car onto the track after accidents to recover vehicles that have left the track. Just make sure that the slot car has pace car electronics. If you want to use the refueling function and a pace car at the same time, you need two pit lanes.
