Test report by CoMod Mike... on Carrera the Evo KTM X-Bow
(27288)
When Chris writes in his report on the white 911 that “white” is making a comeback, my motto is: “Black is beautiful!” Some might argue that you can’t really see a black car on a black track… yeah, sure… so what? ;-)
I feel the same way, even though my tests took place on a gray wooden track surface. Black vehicles do require a certain amount of focus at the controller, but personally, I don’t see the X-Bow as a production race car either! For me, this open-top fun racer is exactly what it is in real life… namely, aGo
go-kart-like fun machine!… And this thing is a blast… Even in the
black paint scheme released in 2009 !
The combination of high-gloss painted trim pieces contrasting with the matte body panels has its own charm, which really becomes apparent only when viewed up close. This isn’t a car to admire from a distance... And so you often find yourself kneeling down to eye level, letting the “Black X-Bow” glide past... “Glide” might be a bit of a misnomer—it reminds me a little of my beloved Batman “Thumbler” in the Batboy version...
But all in all, it’s a truly futuristic testament to our times from the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM—and as far as I’m concerned, it could easily go a size bigger on the Schlitzpiste (though that’s not to say it should replace a production race bike in the lineup ;-) !!!)
