Yellow is the color of the moment, and big names are in the DTM!
Review of CoMod Carrera124 for the Carrera DIGITAL 132 / Evolution AMG-Mercedes C-DTM 2007 Deutsche Post AMG Mercedes 2010 "D.Coulthard" (30561/27359)

With remarkable regularity, former F1 drivers are drawn to the DTM: Jean Alesi, Mika Häkkinen, and Ralf Schumacher are prime examples. Most recently, David Coulthard was the high-profile newcomer to the driver lineup! He signed a contract with Mercedes-Benz for the 2010 season and quickly became a fan favorite.

After a few initial struggles, he really picked up steam, but for the fans, his race results were probably secondary. Because no matter what position he was in during the race, his car with its bright yellow paint job was impossible to miss and added a splash of color. Even at championship rival Audi, the color scheme seems to have caught on, as an Audi A4 in the yellow Post design is also on the road this season.

So it didn’t take long before people here in the club forum started asking for David Coulthard’s race car. A few particularly impatient fans have already taken matters into their own hands and painted the car design themselves. Anyone who lacks the necessary skills can now purchase the model in stores.

Visually, the model lives up to the real thing: it’s impossible to miss on the track, and there’s no chance of confusing it with any other car in the DTM fleet. The black-painted or printed body parts and lettering create an attractive contrast to the yellow base color.

Technically, everything remains the same: the Mercedes still features a chassis from the older generation of 2007 and 2008. While it can’t work miracles compared to the suspension technology used since 2009, it’s certainly enough for a pleasant driving experience.

The rear magnet is removed immediately, and the center magnet is set to the weakest grip setting. Nevertheless, the grip is slightly stronger this time than I’m used to from identical models in recent years. While this is an advantage for brisk cornering, it does come at the slight expense of agility—butgeht.Wirklich that’s not a bad thing; it’s more a matter of personal taste.

Overall, this car is a real asset to the DTM starting grid.

Test report by CoMod Carrera 124 on the Carrera DIGITAL 132 / Evolution AMG-Mercedes C-DTM 2007 Laureus AMG Mercedes 2010 "R.Schumacher" (30562/27360)

Big Names in the DTM!

Ralf Schumacher has been competing in the DTM since the 2008 season. He started out with
a previous year’s model, but has been driving the latest cars since 2009. In his first three years, however, he was only able to achieve a few sporadic highlights. His superior pole position at the Norisring, as well as the fastest lap of the race, remain memorable. However, a potential race victory was dashed by a false start. Ralf Schumacher also performed very well at the Norisring in 2009 and 2008; this historic street circuit clearly suits him well.

This season, however , things seem to have finally clicked: two podium finishes in the first three races and currently fourth place in the overall standings! Hardly anyone would have seriously believed Ralf Schumacher could achieve this. Back in 2010: that season, his race car was shiny chrome and featured the “Laureus Sports Award” logo. I don’t find this design particularly exciting; Carrera it’s already been released in various iterations in the -line: most recently in the “Original Parts” design of Bernd Schneider’s car, and previously on Mika Häkkinen’s car from the 2006 season.

But I’m not going to complain— after being treated to a truly colorful mix of DTM novelties so far, a comparatively muted design variant is perfectly acceptable.

During the test drive, however, a less-than-pleasant surprise awaited us: at first, the car rattled off like a tractor. The cause was a rear-axle rim that hadn’t been deburred properly. Although this defect could be quickly fixed with a craft knife, it was still annoying. And despite the repair, the driving performance remained slightly worse than that of the yellow Coulthard miniature, although the basic handling characteristics were identical.

All in all, the1:32-scale DTM lineup wasexpanded this year by four attractive and extremely diverse design variants, so there should be something to suit every taste.
