Review by CoMod Lotus of Carrera DIGITAL 132 the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 Blackfalcon No. 35 Art.Nr.
at the 2011 24 Hours of Spa ( Art.Nr . 30611)
To quote myself: 'Black Falcon GmbH &Co. KG, based in Kelberg, is an international motorsports company that operates as an event service provider and sports marketing agency in the motorsports sector. The 'Black Falcon' team fields its cars in the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring. 'BF' is one of the so-called Mercedes-AMG customer racing teams that compete in the endurance championship with production-based SLS GT3s.'
So far, so good. The text is taken from the first club report on the silver BLACK FALCON, whichCarrera was published last year by Carrera (Item No. 30551). And now another one from the same team, even though there are other teams in the VLN?
Yes! Absolutely! Because this red SLS is something special!
Why? Almost everyone in the motorsports community knows the “Pink Pig,” the Porsche 917 in its iconic pink paint scheme. The "Red Pig," on the other hand, is generally only familiar to Mercedes fans. Behind that name lies the legendary Mercedes 300 SEL 6.8 AMG, which, driven by Hans Heyer and Clemes Schicketanz in 1971, won its class at the 24 Hours of Spa and finished second overall.
The BLACK-FALCON team’s red Mercedes is a tribute to the old 6.8, built just in time for the 2011 race at SPA. The car’s paint job, decals, and sponsor stickers match the 40-year-old original. The gull-winged car finished in 3rd place in the race on July 30, 2011; incidentally, one of the four drivers was Kenneth Heyer, the son of Hans Heyer.
And for those who want to compare the original and the homage, the following link features a photo gallery of both AMG models, driven by Heyer Sr. and Jr.:www.tuningspirit.com!
