"Phoenix Racing Racetaxi" & "Team Phoenix, No. 1A, Winner of the 2012 Bathurst 12 Hour"
Review by CoMod JörgW of Carrera DIGITAL 124 the Audi R8 LMS "Phoenix Racing Racetaxi" (Item No. 23781) & and "Team Phoenix, No. 1A, Winner of the 2012 Bathurst 12 Hour (Item No. 23782)

The Audi R8 LMS was built by quattro GmbH with the assistance of Abt Sportsline in accordance with GT3 regulations and went on sale to private racing teams starting in 2009. A race-ready vehicle cost around 300,000–350,000 euros; zahlen.Das while the model now available is technically a race car, it is used in Red Bull livery at the racetrack of the same name in Austria (formerly the A1- or Österreichring in Spielberg) as a race taxi and promotional vehicle.

Appearance:
Despite the lack of racing insignia, the Red Bull design alone somehow makes the vehicle look like a race car; you can just imagine the three start numbers… or simply add them yourself.

Technology:
Basically all familiar components. The headlights are bright enough at the front, but on this dark-colored car, the lack of shielding toward the tires is noticeable. The keel turns smoothly, the axles are flawless, and the tires have good grip.

Workmanship:
There are no defects to be found in the paint job, the decals, the assembly, or the alignment of the axles. The gearboxes on the new vehicles are all set relatively tight; while this isn’t a problem, I think they could be even quieter—thoughlaufen.Aber that’s really nitpicking for a ready-to-run model.

What I would have liked to change is the antenna. If it were made of a more flexible material, you could leave it on without worry during races.

Handling:
This is already familiar from the other model variants. The car is a bit heavy, but it has a good balance of wheelbase, length, and width, and can Carrera certainly hold its own in the GT series Carrera . The chassis allows for tuning with weights, but so far I’ve driven the Audis—by my standards—quite smoothly and safely, even though nothing has been modified except for removing the magnets.

Conclusion:
The car is a good option for expanding the GT series and bringing some variety to the track.

See you later,
Jörg

Test report by CoMod long on Carrera DIGITAL 124 the Audi R8 LMS 1A Bathurst 2012 (23782)

Phoenix Racing won the 2012 Bathurst 12-Hour Race. The Audi R8 LMS, driven by Christopher Mies, Darryl O’Young, and Christer Jöns, crossed the finish line first in Australia after a 12-hour race. Behind the Audi came another German-made car, a Mercedes-Benz SLS. Ferrari took third place.

The test model in the aforementioned design is visually striking right away—the colors, the printing, truly everything is top-notch. Of course, the Bathurst also features the many details of its siblings, which deserve a mention here: roof antenna, tow hooks, a great interior, delicate mirrors and rear spoiler mount, front and rear air intakes, and the beefy wheels look fantastic in their wheel wells—they’ll fill them out perfectly.

The Audi features the latest, sophisticated technology—we’re already familiar with it, so there’s nothing new to report here.

For the first test runs, the rear spoiler was removed again; the R8 impresses with its solid and smooth handling, though this R8 variant’s excess weight is clearly noticeable. On the test track, the new soft tires provide excellent grip.

My conclusion: another great color variant that belongs on the track.
