Favorite car…

Do you know what I mean? There are sports cars and race cars that are everyone’s personal dream cars. I’m not talking about “everyday” sports cars that, in theory, anyone can afford at some point if they just wait long enough until the cars are used or reach “youngtimer” or classic car age. Or if you simply earn enough. No GTis, GSIs, Ms, RSs, AMGs, etc. No, I’m talking about those… special… cars that you associate with something.

I know from Mike that for him, one of them is the BMW M1 (and for me, too, by the way). One of my all-time favorites is the Porsche 904 Carrera GTS.
Why? WIKING!!! WIKING??? WIKING!!!

I had a Märklin train set when I was a kid. And back then, model train layouts were still primarily filled with WIKING cars; HERPA was already around, but I liked the “rougher” WIKING ones better back then. And back in my youth, WIKING had the blue 904 CARRERA GTS in its lineup under item no. 163. At some point, I also had the red one, the cream-white one, and the silver one, along with many, many other HO-scale cars. I’ve always been a collector… The

chance of getting one of only 100 cars ever built is practically zero—not to mention that the last 904 sold fetched a million. Last year, the engine from the real-life CARRERA car was sold—that alone fetched a significant sum 270.000 € .

Back then, if you showed the model car to someone with no knowledge of cars and asked them what kind it was, 90% of the time the answer was: “That’s a Ferrari.” Back in the ’80s, nobody could really imagine a Porsche with this design.

You can imagine how excited I was when I got my hands on the list of new releases in 2014 and saw that the Porsche was on it. Sure, I eventually got one from UNIVERSAL too, but the bodies were just always… well, verzogen.Aber how about now? Finally EVOLUTION, for the DIGITAL132 and the … The silver 30663, which was only available in the starter set, was great; the red 27444 from the EVO was even better; and the sky-blue 30682 with start number 51 was simply a dream. And then CrazyChris was the first to add it to the list of club reports.
I was… not amused

….But now, finally: in 2015, the little racer comes in orange. Version: NASSAU 1964. So, briefly, for those interested in motorsports, a few details:

Chassis No. 51. Purchased and driven by Dr. David Lane, at the 11th International Bahamas Speed Weeks in Nassau, competed in several races this week, driving different cars Erfolg.Das himself on the track? Small and mean. This little guy weighs just 83 gr, has a very low-slung body—giving it a low center of gravity—and a fairly wide track for its size. Katze.Aber To be honest, this thing goes like a rocket : I hardly ever drive it. It just sits here, and it looks good here.

On that note… best regards, CoMod Lotus
