While the Ferrari 575 GTC was mostly just red and monotonous, that has fortunately changed with the Ferrari 458 GT3. A colorful variety is on the agenda; this time, the choice fell on the black-and-green AF Corse race car from the 2016 Blancpain Endurance Series.
The model is just as wide and low-slung as the original vehicle. And the large scale allows for the depiction of numerous details. The front and rear lights, as well as the mock engine, are particularly well done. Even after three years in the lineup, the body leaves nothing to be desired, and technically, everything remains the same. Unfortunately, that also means there’s quite a bit of mass to contend with. Depending on the selected magnet configuration, the model weighs between 230 and 240 grams—it’s hardly what you’d call lightweight. You can really tell the difference when driving: on the one hand, the weight provides a solid and stable ride; on the other hand, the car doesn’t accelerate and brake as nimbly as lighter D124 models.
Nevertheless, this model is another worthwhile addition to the 1:24-scale GT3 lineup.
