The mini-truck series, which designer Leifer fought for many years to bring to life, sparked lengthy discussions in the club at the beginning:
Who needs something like this? “Just bring us more race cars,” blah blah blah, and so on. The usual reaction when you introduce something outside the racing mainstream.
Honestly, I like these cars. And I’m not just saying that because I’m supposed to write a positive review of the vehicle. I really do like them. I think the tanker is great, and I also like the new fire truck.
The only thing I don’t like about the cars so far is that they’re all red. Well, I guess that’s just part of being a fire truck. But the tanker in particular offers wonderful color possibilities, as does the tow truck.
I could also imagine a German version of the fire extinguisher. The “R” on the side doors probably stands for “Responder” or “Rescue.” In any case, the color fits right in.
There’s not much to say about the handling, though—contrary to expectations—these small trucks aren’t nearly as slow as I’d initially feared.
My only criticism of the vehicle: the first responder’s sound module is the same as the one on the tanker and the tow truck. They could have done better there.
Otherwise, there’s nothing to complain about with this small truck. As with the previous vehicles, the build quality is high and flawless; I had no complaints about the paint job either.
If you’re looking for something special on the track (beyond the usual racing series), the fire truck is a great choice.
I hope this series continues for many more years, and I'm sure our designer still has a few ideas up his sleeve.
And the car is also great for a few special editions…
Best
