Carrera has had the Porsche 917K in its range since 2012. Among the various 917 versions of the legendary racing car from Weissach, there is one that visually stands out from the rest: the 917/20. It occupies a very special place because it was a one-off. With this car, Porsche attempted to combine the advantages of the short and long-tail versions. The coolest thing about the car, however, was its paint job: known as the "Pink Pig," "Fat Bertha," or "Truffle Hunter." The paint scheme was designed by Anatol Lapine and caused a sensation at the 1971 Le Mans. Although it crashed out of the main race in sixth place, it won the preliminary race without any prior experience.
Due to the special body shape, the car will probably never be available from CARRERA in 132 and 124 versions as the 917. But there are others:
Since then, this design has enjoyed cult status. As early as 2018, the owner of a Porsche 918 Spyder had his car wrapped in the butcher's look.
And at Porsche, too, the initial problems they had with Lapine's design proposal in 1971 had apparently been finally overcome after 40 years.
In 2018, one of the ten Porsche 911 RSRs that the factory fielded at the 24 Hours of Le Mans sported the pink livery. The car, number 92, was driven by Kévin Estre (France), Michael Christensen (Denmark), and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium). It competed in the LMGT Pro class and finished 15th overall.
