The FORD Capri 3100 is now almost a classic in the CARRERA range. We had the first one in our range in 2009, and since then seven have been released. After a break of several years, the Weisberg-Racing was released last year. This year we have another one in our range: the olive-brown-yellow one with the starting number 3 from 1974. I admit it, I just couldn't find anything about the original vehicle. Since the car doesn't have the usual Race 3, 4 or 5 registration, I assume that this time it is an original vehicle that served as a model. In addition, the psychedelic color scheme speaks heavily for it. The RS 3100 was a further development of the highly successful RS 2600; in 1974, the car with the 3.4-liter Cosworth engine with new valve technology was given an output of around 415 hp. This was also necessary in order to keep up with the highly successful BMW 3.5 C SL lightweight coupés of the time. Unfortunately, the consequences of the energy crisis in 1973 forced the factories to generally reduce their motorsport activities. BMW, for example, completely refrained from entering works cars in the DRM's big division. The involvement of the FORD works racing team ended around 1975/76, and the remaining stock of works cars was sold to private drivers and enthusiasts.
