Mike Rockenfeller is a DTM veteran. Although he was never quite able to replicate his 2013 championship victory, he remained a fixture in the Class 1 DTM right up until the end.
For the 2019 season, his race car changed colors. Whereas he had previously raced in the distinctive Schaffler design, he now took to the track with the “Akrapovi?” logo. Akrapovi? is a Slovenian manufacturer of exhaust systems, and Audi wanted to honor the partnership—which had lasted ten years at that point—with the race car’s design. The press even referred to the initiative as a “special vehicle” or “special design.”
The model captures the elaborate livery very well, and its driving performance is in line with what we’ve come to expect: nimble and responsive, just like all the other DTM models. As a result, the Audi is another worthwhile addition to what is, for now, the final DTM fleet based on Class 1 vehicles.
