from the 1965 Canadian Grand Prix for the Pepsi-Cola Trophy at Mosport Park in Canada. The car that inspired this model competed in that race and, with Pedro Rodriguez at the wheel, finished third behind the winning
Chaparral 2A and a McLaren Elva.
Although the model is slightly larger than the original in all dimensions, the ratio between length and width is particularly accurate, and the car looks authentic and harmonious.
The rims are true to the original, though they would have benefited from a slightly deeper embossing. The fact that the sponsor
The driver figure and other add-on parts are true to the original and flawlessly crafted. Due to the shallow construction depth—the slot car mechanism underneath the body requires space—the steering wheel and driver figure are not fully molded.
The colors and decals ofN.A.R.T . the North American Racing Team are designed to match the original and are cleanly applied.
On the track, the light weight of 83 grams is a definite plus. It’s really fun to race this little speedster around the track, though you shouldn’t overdo it. The front wheels feature independent suspension; they turn freely and smoothly. The tires have good grip; all in all, it’s a fun car that can be raced historically accurately against the Shelby Cobra and the Porsche 904 GTS. Perhaps we’ll see a revival of this racing era from the mid-1960s, and theo.a . winning cars will make an appearance someday as well.
