Art.Nr. 31044" Actually
, I had thought of using "pretty in pink" as the headline for the latest De Tomaso Pantera Group 5.
But the color doesn't quite fit. And the latest 1:32-scale model isn’t pink either—it’s eggplant.
Eggplant…
Yeah, I know, this is a really tricky area for men: men are simple creatures! For us, there are complementary colors. According to Hering’s process model, those would be blue, yellow, red, and green. According to
But these days, there are also tons of other colors that have nothing to do with the classic color model. Women understand this stuff right away; men never do. Lilac? It’s a plant (and, of course, a color). Mallow? Ditto. Neither is edible, so from the perspective of a Central European man who wasn’t raised as a vegetarian—completely uninteresting. Green lettuce, cucumber, arugula, etc.: edible vegetables. So, a side dish for grilled meat. Which actually makes it uninteresting all over again… (I’ll come clean: I love salad and vegetables). But do you notice something? The stuff I mentioned doesn’t represent colors!
But I’m digressing—back to the car.
The PANTERA standing here in front of me is, from a man’s perspective, violet. My wife immediately called it “eggplant.” (Eggplant is a fruit vegetable that not even I like.)
But: eggplant = color! And that was probably the designer’s intention: why else would he have written “BEAU BERGINE” on it as the driver’s name?
In any case, the eggplant-and-yellow combination creates a very nice, contemporary color contrast for the race car. To be honest, I only partially understand the other markings on the vehicle.
VIBES CONTRACTORS—as in a vibratory compactor or vibrating roller—I can kind of see that working for this monstrously wide Italian car with an American heart and its massive rollers at the rear.
STEADFAST (for the shock absorbers)? It means “unwavering.” Fine by me. It fits the car.
But what the heck does the designer mean by ZERO IN REALTORS?
That translates to: “Real estate agents at zero.” I’ll be honest, I have no clue what that’s supposed to mean. Slottus simply explained it as contemporary advertising.
Otherwise, let’s just enjoy the fact that the wonderful DE TOMASO is releasing 1:32 scale models again this year! The Italo-American is still tearing up the track, even if it’s no longer the latest model.
Best regards,
