The GT3 starting grid is getting bigger!

While the 1/132 scale category in the FIA GT3 racing series was already well-represented with the Porsche 911 and the Mercedes SLS AMG, another vehicle is joining the starting line this year: the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3.

Until now, Aston Martin has used the well-known DBR9 as the base model in the GT3 series (we’re all familiar with these cars from the larger scale, of course). In 2012, the new Vantage was introduced for the first time. The Vantage is the “most compact” vehicle in the British manufacturer’s lineup; for the GT3 series, it was equipped with Gaydon’s most powerful engine, the 6-liter V12 producing around 600 hp.

This CARRERA model is based on the 2012 version of the Fischer Racing motorsport team. The Paderborn-based team fields the car in the Grand Tourismo series. Active since 2010 under the name YOUNG DRIVER AMR, Fischer has been an official ASTON MARTIN Racing partner team since 2013. Let’s move on to the model itself. The car is really well-finished. The printing is flawless—it doesn’t get any better than this right now. The motor runs very smoothly, and there’s nothing to complain about regarding the axles’ roundness either. Everyone will form their own opinion about the color scheme; I like it quite a bit, even though baby blue isn’t usually my color.

Handling: The car sits very steadily on the track. I drive with a magnet on a classic home track with plenty of K1. The Aston can be maneuvered cleanly and quickly through tight corners without immediately flying out of the slot. To be honest, I didn’t expect anything less from the suspension. In terms of acceleration and balanced handling, it’s every bit as good as an SLS or a 911—which definitely sets the stage for some exciting showdowns in the future.

I’m looking forward to seeing more color options for the car!
