After “Tuner 3” comes “Race 4”...

Having been part of the lineup for 5 years now, the Ford Capri RS 3100 can almost be called a perennial favorite. Due to a lack of alternatives in original designs, here’s another fantasy variant—one that’s significantly more appealing than the somewhat tacky aftermarket versions. Bright yellow, paired with a matte-black hood and orange-red accent stripes—this is exactly how the car could have rolled down the racetrack in the ’70s and would have fit right in. However, the “Motor77” lettering on the hood clearly indicates that this must be a modern design, since the magazine of the same name has only been published under that name since 2013.

Technically, everything remains the same; the Capri has the same chassis as all its predecessors. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the independently suspended front wheels; as is often the case, they feel quite stiff on this test model as well, which slows down the forward momentum a bit. As a result, the handling feels a bit jerky; aside from that, the E200 motor delivers a good top speed, and the handling limits are broad even in corners—at least when I choose my preferred setup: rear magnet out, center magnet in.
To prevent the lighting from showing through, the interior of the body—in the front and rear areas—is generously painted black, which proves to be an effective measure.

Conclusion: an existing mold set was put to good use; it’s only at second glance that you realize this is a modern retro design.
