announcement of this car came as no real surprise. The predecessor model of the same name was
Appearance/Body:
The basic shape of the body is still unmistakably that of an Audi R8, but the lines have become significantly more pronounced and angular in the details. The model impresses with its accurate reproduction of the real car; in particular, the wheels with their hint of brake discs and the headlights are very detailed. The same applies to the decals, even though the silver-and-black color scheme strikes me personally as somewhat uninspiring.
Technology/Body:
The chassis is also a new design compared to the previous model, though it retains all the familiar features: the E200 motor, two removable magnets, a digital circuit board, and SMD-style lighting. The front axle is rigid throughout, but due to its solid and elaborate construction, the model is by no means a lightweight.
Test Drive:
The flat, wide body shape and comparatively high weight result in relatively solid and neutral handling; the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 serves as a good point of comparison. My DTM cars post slightly better lap times, but that shouldn’t stand in the way of the little R8’s future success.
