Consumers and ElektroG

As a consumer, you have the following options to dispose of an electrical or electronic equipment safely and responsibly:

  1. You use, as in the past, the collection and recycling points of the public waste disposal providers (e.B municipal recycling centres).
  2. Your old device is still in good condition or can be repaired. Maybe a donation to a charitable organization is still a good way to reuse it?
  3. You have purchased an electrical or electronic equipment from SMV that falls under the regulations of the ElektroG; in this case, you can return your old equipment of the same type of equipment and which essentially fulfils the same functions as the new device to SMV.
  4. You can (regardless of the purchase of a new device from SMV) return old equipment that is not longer than 25 cm in any dimension.

For the latter two options, the SMV has the following way:

Old devices with a weight of up to 31 kg and the maximum parcel dimensions of 120 x 60 x 60 cm can be returned carriage paid by the recipient) with DHL (Germany) or GLS (Austria).
