FAQ
Electrical and electronics-old device recycling
The European Weee Directive (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) was implemented by the law on the placing on the market, withdrawal and environmentally friendly disposal of electrical and electronic devices (electrical and electronic device law- ElektroG).
§ 3 defines "devices that are designed for operation with a maximum voltage of a maximum of 1000 volts or DC voltage of a maximum of 1500 volts.
- Are dependent on their proper operation of electrical currents or electromagnetic fields or
- The production, transmission and measurement of electrical currents and electromagnetic fields serve ”.
Due to the fact that the production and use of electrical and electronic devices have been increasing rapidly for years and, of course, the waste problem is growing to the same extent, suggestions for problem solving were drawn up at the European level and at the end of 2002 in the EU directive on electrical and electronic devices (WEEE directive).
The WEEE guideline and the electrical and electronics device law (Elektrog) thus serve the following goals:
- To protect health and environment from harmful substances from electrical and electronic devices
- Reduce the waste quantities through reuse or recycling (recycling)
In addition, responsibilities for manufacturers, dealers and consumers are clearly regulated
The Carrera is registered with the "Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte Register" (EAR) with the reg. no. 25078058 (Germany) or 50725 (Austria). The EAR Foundation is the joint body of manufacturers within the meaning of the ElektroG and has been entrusted by the Federal Environment Agency with the performance of sovereign tasks. In this context, it registers the producers of electrical and electronic equipment and coordinates the provision of collection containers and the collection of waste equipment from the public waste management authorities (örE).
Devices with this identification must not be disposed of by the residual waste, but must be brought to the responsible manufacturer or importer via the collection points of the ÖRE of recycling by return to the responsible manufacturer or importer.

Consumer and electrog
As a consumer, you have the following options for disposing of an electrical or electronic appliance safely and responsibly:
As in the past, you can use the collection and recycling points of the public waste disposal authorities (e.g. municipal recycling centers).
Your old appliance is still in good condition or can be repaired. Perhaps a donation to a charitable organization would be a good way to reuse it?
You have purchased an electrical or electronic device from Carrera that falls under the regulations of the ElektroG; in this case, you can return your old device of the same type and which essentially fulfills the same functions as the new device to Carrera.
You can return old appliances that are no longer than 25 cm in any dimension (regardless of whether you have purchased a new appliance from Carrera).
For the latter two options, Carrera offers you the following option:
Old devices weighing up to 31 kg and with maximum package dimensions of 120 x 60 x 60 cm can be returned freight collect (postage paid by recipient) with DHL (Germany) or GLS (Austria).
Please send your old appliance to the following address:

Please note the following important information:
Data protection: In any case, you are responsible for the fact that there is no personal data on the old devices you have returned. Therefore, make sure that you deleted your personal data before returning your old device.
Lamps and lighting bodies: Lamps and lighting bodies should be packed particularly carefully before returning, since they can easily break during transport and release pollutants. They are well padded from all sides. Use a sufficiently large and stable box.
Batteries/batteries in devices: Remove all batteries and batteries from the devices (if possible) and lead them to battery disposal.
