A victory in Daytona!
For Carreraristi, the Lola T70 MKIIIb "No.6", 24h Daytona 1969 is a true-to-the-original model in the new Carrera fleet. The Lola T70 was produced from 1965 by the British manufacturer Lola Cars. A total of only 88 vehicles were produced, which makes the racing car a real collector's item. The Lola T70 celebrated its greatest success with victory in the 24 Hours of Daytona, also known as the 8th Annual World's Championship 24 Hours of Daytona International Road Race.
The Lola T70 was developed in 1965 by the British racing car manufacturer Lola as a two-seater racing sports car for the unlimited Group 7 sports car racing series in England and the USA. The coupé version, built from 1967 onwards, then also made it possible to compete in the manufacturers' world championship. The Lola T70 is considered the most successful racing two-seater in England.
Sometimes these vehicles appear at auctions. If a Ferrari is too boring for you, a Porsche too mundane, you can try it - but getting started - it is said - is quite arduous. Whether the Lola would receive road approval again today, which it once had in Switzerland, can be described as questionable.
A rarity on your Carrera track
The first variant was the Lola T70 Spyder. In 1966, the Lola T70 Mk II Spyder appeared, which was replaced by the Lola Mk III Spyder model in 1967. John Surtees became world champion in the CanAm series in 1966 on Lola, but the following year only one race was won against the McLaren M6A-Chevrolet. The first closed variant was the Lola Mk III Coupé, which appeared in 1967; replaced by the Mk IIIB Coupé, which appeared in 1969 and was built until 1970.
