Carrera DIGITAL 124 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 'Petronas, No. 28' Item

No.: 20023837 Petronas

…is
a state-owned oil company in Malaysia and ranks among the 500 largest corporations worldwide.
Petronas has been a sponsor in motorsports since 1995. Large, eye-catching sponsor logos—
first on Sauber F1 cars, then on BMW/Sauber cars, and now
on Mercedes cars—consistently put the sponsor in the spotlight. On this 1:24 scale model, the company logo is also large and centrally placed on the hood.

Appearance:
The Mercedes
, finished in Petronas’ corporate colors , is of course highly recognizable on the track , but as a model it comes across as somewhat old-fashioned.
In my opinion, the Mercedes’ muscular and aggressive shapeis somewhat lost in this version.
I still really like many of the model’s details—such as the brakes, rims, and interio
r—which round out the overall impression.

Technical aspects:
Basically all familiar components. The headlight is bright enough and suitable for night racing as well
. The taillights are bright, the brake light is clearly visible, and could
help prevent the occasional rear-end collision on the track. The tires have sufficient grip,
but—true to the prototype—are quite thin, so sliding should be done with caution.

Workmanship:
The paint job and clear coat are neatly applied. All
other components, such as decals and technical parts, are flawless and neatly assembled.
The wheels and axles turn easily and run smoothly. The car runs flawlessly and
is ready to hit the track right away.

Handling:
The car is quite a heavyweight and needs to
be driven accordingly
. I find the handling—with or without the magnet—to be quite balancedand pleasant, though it isn't one of my favorite GT cars in 1:24 scale.
