The NIO EP9 is an electrically powered, two-seater super sports car. It was manufactured with the participation of the company's Formula E division at NIO and holds several speed records. Four motors drive the NIO EP9. This means that each wheel has its own motor with an output of up to 250 kW. Overall, the EP9 comes to 1 megawatt or an incredible 1,630 hp. The EP9 can be driven either in all-wheel drive mode or via a direct selection of the drive wheels. The number of units of the NIO EP9 is very limited. At the beginning, NIO built just six vehicles exclusively for NIO investors. Around 1.48 million US dollars were due for this. Later, NIO began to build ten more copies. A used car market for this car is therefore simply not available and even if it did, the prices would take place in similarly high spheres. The EP9 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, reaching 200 km/h after 6.0 seconds. The vehicle reaches a speed of 300 km/h after 15.9 seconds. The top speed is given as 313 km/h. The chassis is made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (KfK) and is based on the FIA technical regulations for prototypes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The outer skin is also made of KfK. The batteries weigh around 635 kilograms and the weight of the KfK components adds up to 364 kilograms. The total weight of the EP9 is 1735 kilograms.
