In 2021, the Corona pandemic continued to have a firm grip on global economic and everyday life. Ups and downs in incidence rates, vaccination rates, local restrictions in retail, home schooling, etc.m. became permanent challenges in everyday life. In addition, the global economy had to deal with a shortage of raw materials, important electrical components or ship capacities and the associated supply bottlenecks and price increases.
Despite these difficult conditions, the Carrera Revell Group can look back on a successful year 2021, as products related to their own hobby and employment at home continued to be in high demand. In addition, the further development of the group of companies was driven forward and a joint sales organization was created. The sales team is now divided into the four business units Sales Germany / Austria, Export Sales Europe, Distributor Sales International and E-Commerce EMEA. This new structure has created one of the strongest sales teams in the toy industry, which will be bundled and specifically addressed to customers with the Carrera and Revell range. In addition, new projects have been launched in order to gradually and in the longer term make the Group and its products sustainable and climate-neutral.

Business development of the Carrera Revell Group in 2021
The Carrera Revell Group's business performance in 2021 was very encouraging. The trend towards employment and distraction at home continued from the previous year, leading to global group growth of over 15% compared to the previous year. The foreign share grew to 59% and made a significant contribution to growth. The most important sales markets for the Group are the USA, Great Britain, France, but also growing markets in Southern and Eastern Europe.
Carrera Toys GmbH – Sales development 2021
At Carrera Toys GmbH, consolidated total sales including all foreign Carrera subsidiaries rose by 25% to € 111.3 million, with car racing tracks accounting for the largest share at 52%. The brand dominates the slot car market with a market share of 97.3% (according to NPD ytd 2021 December) and was able to increase its market share here thanks to innovative innovations such as Carrera GO!!! Build'n Race. The share of sales for Germany and Austria was about 41% and the export share was about 59%.
The development of the Carrera RC brand is particularly pleasing, as the area of remote-controlled models grew by more than 40% in 2021 compared to the previous year and accounts for 35% of the company's sales. Here, foreign business in particular was the growth driver, especially the USA.
With an increase of around 28%, the business with Pustefix also made a significant contribution to the Group's growth. Here, the business with refills was particularly successful.
Revell GmbH – Sales development in 2021
Revell GmbH was able to achieve a 13% increase in total sales to 57.3 million in 2021, with the core business with model kits contributing over 30% to growth and contributing 51% of sales.
The development of remote-controlled products under the Revell Control brand also contributed strongly to growth, with Revell further expanding its market leadership in 2021 in accordance with NPD/Eurotoys ytd Dec. 2021. In addition to attractive price points, the main reasons for this were broad listings in all trading channels. 3D puzzles from Revell grew by around 15%. Encouragingly, in the declining German core market, Revell was able to achieve a through-sales increase of over 24% thanks to attractive licenses such as Harry Potter and Coca Cola, while the market declined by 11.4% (according to NPD ytd 2021 December). The share of sales in the core markets of Germany and Austria was around 39% and the export share was around 61%.
Outlook for 2022
The development in 2022 is mainly dependent on possible further price increases in the procurement of goods and sea freight. Based on various forecasts, price increases (between approx. 5 and 12%) cannot be ruled out. Depending on the toy category and dependence on the Far East, different effects can be expected here.
Looking ahead to 2022, however, the Carrera Revell Group expects the market and supply chains to stabilise. For the Group, we expect growth of around 5% due to a significantly improved delivery situation compared to the previous year and an attractive range of new products and licenses.
The drivers for the further growth of the Carrera Revell Group are the numerous, attractive product innovations and licensing topics as well as corresponding marketing activities. At the same time, the topic of sustainability will also play a major role. Together with the experts from ClimatePartner and internal project groups, a strategy for the sustainability and climate neutrality of the company and the products is being worked on in order to implement it step by step.

With Peppa Pig, one of the most popular brands for the little ones comes to the blue fairway of Carrera! In the new Carrera FIRST sets "Peppa Pig - Kids GranPrix", as well as "Peppa Pig – Soapbox Race", the sweet siblings from the popular children's TV series Peppa Pig and their little brother George make their Carrera debut. The little pilots from 3 years can look forward to a lot of fun with their favorites Peppa and George! The blue 2.4 and 2.9 meter long slopes offer sparkling eyes to the players after each round thanks to fun game elements.
A real power play in the Boys Toys segment: Carrera GO!!! meets "Hot Wheels"! In the "Hot Wheels" set, the popular toy cars match each other for the first time on the slot racing tracks of the Carrera GO!!! Course. The "Hot Wheels Night Shifter blue" and the "Hot Wheels HW50 Concept red" engage in a thrilling duel. All riders on the hand controller with turbo button must show full concentration in order to master action elements, such as the daring jump over the ski jump through the first included ring of fire.

In bright orange, a Ford Capri Zakspeed Turbo (1:24 and 1:32) and a Porsche 935 Kremer K3 (1:32) whizz on the major racetracks of the DIGITAL 132, DIGITAL 124 and EVOLUTION systems.
The cool speedsters from Carrera RC convince the fans not only with their high-quality technical equipment, but also with exciting top licenses. The well-known heroes from movies and video games are the hit with all age groups. In his extra-light tube kart – known from the iconic Mario Kart video games – Yoshi competes with the Carrera RC Mario Kart Pipe Kart for hot races in the living room and children's room. It starts the new lap at up to 9 km/h and convinces for 30 minutes in the duel for the top, thanks to the included LiFePo4 battery and batteries. In the approximately 21 cm long kart, the green hero is a real eye-catcher and makes a lot not only in the race, but also in the showcase of the collectors.
The blue cult hedgehog Sonic starts in hot races for the first time at Carrera RC and shows that he knows what speed means not only on his own feet. In his blue and silver racing car, he takes on any opponent and shows them who is the fastest hedgehog in the world. Its chic, 27cm long sled is equipped with LED headlights, additional tuning parts and pneumatic tires and delivers up to 20 minutes of unbridled racing fun.
Hot tricks and lots of stunts characterize the successful Carrera RC Turnator family. With the Carrera RC Mini Turnator in bright pink, Carrera RC now offers even more color and action. 360° rollovers, flip action stunts and rapid turns that really stir up dust are his easiest exercises and make him the center of every stunt show. Thanks to 2.4 GHz wireless technology, the 16 cm long turnator shows its cool tricks together with up to 15 other vehicles and is not afraid to compete against its brothers.
PUSTEFIX: Cult soap bubble fun in a new design and with new articles
PUSTEFIX has been part of childhood for 70 years and bear PUSTI, the brand mascot, symbolizes the epitome of soap bubbles.
Just in time for the anniversary of the dazzling soap bubbles, the iconic Pustefix bear now receives a new, but still familiar outfit. Star Wars by Revell – for the first time, hobbyists can venture into two figures in the "Model Building Level 3" segment. Grogu, also known as "The Child", has taken the hearts of all fans of the hit series "The Mandalorian" by storm. The character, also affectionately known as Baby Yoda, is an easy-to-build model on a scale of 1:13 and can be designed either lying down or kneeling in its multi-part cradle (incl. display stand). The eponymous Bounty Hunter from "The Mandalorian" is also coming to the fans' craft table this year. The successful Revell 3D Puzzle range offers a whole range of new 3D Puzzle models on exciting licensing topics that will inspire many puzzle fans and ensure further sales growth of this successful division.
Star Wars is also finding its way into the Revell 3D Puzzle with special cardboard model kits, such as the Razor Crest, the Millenium Falcon or the Imperial Star Destroyer.
Big and small film enthusiasts will enjoy the iconic DeLorean from "Back to the Future", the legendary "Stark Tower" from the Marvel films as well as the "Arendelle Castle" or "Elsa's Ice Palace" from the Disney films "Frozen I & II".
After all, in 2022 it will be prehistoric with the Revell 3D Puzzle – matching the new movie Jurassic World Dominion, the third part of the Jurassic trilogy, whose theatrical release is planned for June 2022, puzzle fans have some surprises ahead of them. The secret is revealed in spring.

Revell combines its core competence of model making with the action of the well-known RC models in order to convey facts worth knowing about alternative drives and renewable energies in a playful way.
